We had a few friends over this weekend for an Italian themed dinner. Food and wine were in abundance, and a good time was had by all. I won’t spend too much time on the food, but it consisted of a nice antipasti with Parma ham, sopresseta, salami, mozzarella and arrugula; a seafood bouillabaisse (which

We just pulled the last bottle of the 2002 Beringer Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon out of the cellar after a few years of almost pulling the cork. It seemed about time. The occasion was our anniversary, not that we needed a special occasion to drink good wine but why not. I cooked up some beef

We’ve mentioned L’Osteria before in our ramblings, and were just there again this past Saturday night. It is a small, cozy Italian restaurant surrounded by others in the Knightsville section of Cranston. L’Osteria is our favorite of the bunch. We’ve been there thirty times or more, and have no plans to stop any time soon.

Time for two more reds to talk about. The foray into the 2005 Bordeaux stock continues and we revisit a usually good and inexpensive staple. I can say it is becoming apparent that the hoopla surrounding the 2005 Bordeaux vintage was justified.

After crushing the grapes there are still things to do before the juice is ready to be transferred to holding containers for the long haul to winehood. Here are some progress notes on Joe’s journey, from kick starting the fermentation to minding the
